Gingrich's Day 1 agenda: Repeal health care, eliminate new financial rules and fire the czars
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) ' To hear Newt Gingrich tell it, the dramatic conservative change he is promising voters will begin even before he is sworn in as president in January 2013.
The Republican presidential candidate tells audiences he will have dismantled about 40 percent of Barack Obama's government by the time he returns home to Chicago.
Gingrich promises to repeal Obama's health care law, do away with regulations that toughened oversight of Wall Street and eliminate all White House policy czars.
The former House speaker is pledging to all that and more before the end of his first day in office.
But first, Gingrich needs to win the nomination. He's fighting hard for an upset in Tuesday's presidential primary in Florida, where polls make rival Mitt Romney a heavy favorite in the state.
