Hawks awaiting word on Smith's status for Game 3
Injury-plagued Hawks now fretting about F Josh Smith's status for playoff series vs. Celtics
By The Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) ' Josh Smith has undergone an MRI on his sprained left knee, and the Atlanta Hawks are awaiting word on whether the power forward will be able to play in Game 3 against the Boston Celtics.

Smith hurt his knee in Atlanta's 87-80 loss Tuesday night, which evened the best-of-seven playoff series at 1-1. He left for good with 4:20 remaining, and the offense bogged down without his presence in the post.

Now the Hawks face the possibility of going forward in the series without another of their key players. They're already missing centers Al Horford and Zaza Pachulia.

Coach Larry Drew says Smith had an MRI on Wednesday morning. The coach concedes he's worried about Smith's status in the series, which shifts to Boston for the next two games.
