By The Associated Press

BELMAR, N.J. (AP) ' A homeless New Jersey man beaten in a video that appeared on YouTube has received an outpouring of support from outraged members of his community since his plight became public Monday.

Fifty-year-old David Ivins said in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday that he was soon to be put up in a hotel. And he had been told someone is donating a new bike to him.

Ivins says he hope to use his fresh start to stop drinking.

Ivins doesn't remember what day the attack happened. Police believe it was more than a week ago.

A community group has set up a fund for donations to help Ivins.

A 20-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, theft and other charges. Police say a 17-year-old boy manned the camera. He was also charged.
