IOC ends visit to Rio de Janeiro pleased with city's preparations for 2016 Olympics
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) ' IOC officials are leaving Rio de Janeiro satisfied with the city's preparations for the 2016 Olympics.
The visit ended Friday after a series of meetings to check on the progress made by local organizers and city officials.
The IOC team met with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff on Thursday and praised the support to the games from all levels of government.
International Olympic Committee coordination commission leader Nawal El Moutawakel said "Rio 2016 and its partners continue to deliver successfully on their commitments."
She said "there is not a second to waste" but the IOC was "reassured to see that the government support that we've seen since the bid phase remains strong."
