In African jungle, US group raises radio towers to fight vicious militia hunted by US troops
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) ' New radio towers are being installed in Africa's remotest jungle, where U.S. special forces are helping hunt militants from a vicious militia.
Adam Finck with the aid group Invisible Children said Tuesday that the radio towers will let villagers in Congo quickly raise the alarm about militant attacks. Previously it could take days or weeks for news of a massacre to seep out.
The U.S. government says the group's new website is an innovative tool in the fight against the Lord's Resistance Army. Twenty-five communities in Congo now have radio towers and 12 more are scheduled to be put up by Invisible Children.
The LRA is carrying out attacks in Congo, South Sudan and Central African Republic.
