Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels' office declines to comment on reports of future Purdue presidency
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ' Neither Purdue University officials nor Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels' office are confirming multiple reports that Daniels will be the school's next leader.
WISH-TV and The Indianapolis Star are citing anonymous sources Tuesday in reporting that Purdue's Board of Trustees will vote Thursday to name Daniels as the 12th president of the state's second-largest university. France Cordova is retiring next month after five years at Purdue's helm.
Daniels spokeswoman Jane Jankowski declined to comment on the reports to The Associated Press. Purdue spokesman Chris Sigurdson confirms the trustees will introduce the new president after their meeting but won't identify any candidates for the job.
Daniels will step down as governor in January after eight years in office. State law bars him from seeking a third term.
