Ex-husband of Iowa murder suspect says he knew nothing about journal that implicated him
FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) ' The ex-husband of a woman accused of murdering her Iowa neighbor says he he had nothing to do with a notebook found in the victim's car that claimed he'd hired him as a hit man.
Virginia plastic surgeon John Pitman III testified Friday during the first-degree murder trial of Tracey Richter, who is charged in the 2001 death of 20-year-old Dustin Wehde.
Prosecutors say Richter forced Wehde to write in a notebook that he'd been hired by Pitman to kill Richter and their son, killed Wehde erand planted the notebook in his car.
At the time, Richter and Pitman were fighting over custody of Bert Pitman.
John Pitman says the notebook contained information about his personal life that Richter knew. He said he didn't know Wehde and didn't hire him.
