Ireland votes 'yes' to EU deficit-fighting treaty with 60.3 percent of votes
DUBLIN (AP) ' An official in Ireland says voters have offered a decisive "yes" in a referendum to the European Union's deficit-fighting treaty.
Final results declared Friday for Ireland's referendum gave the pro-treaty side 60.3 percent of all votes cast, better than most opinion polls during the month-long campaign.
Anti-treaty voters won a majority in only five of Ireland's 43 constituencies, with anti-EU sentiment strongest in the poorest parts of Dublin and the northwest county of Donegal.
