Israel military says shots fired toward soldiers from Egypt; no injuries reported
JERUSALEM (AP) ¯¯¯ The Israeli military says shots have been fired from Egypt toward a bus of soldiers in southern Israel.
The army says the bus was damaged but no one was wounded in Sunday's shooting. It marks the latest attack against Israel from the lawless Sinai Peninsula. Last August, eight Israelis were killed in a shooting spree by attackers who crossed from the Egyptian side of the border.
The Sinai has become increasingly anarchic since Egypt's longtime president Hosni Mubarak was toppled last year. Israel believes that Al-Qaida operatives have infiltrated the area.
Israel is building an electronic barrier along the 150 mile (230 kilometer) border to keep out militants and African migrants.
