Jury convicts Arizona man in Baseline Killer case
Jury convicts Arizona man of murder in Baseline Killer case that terrorized Phoenix in 2006
By The Associated Press

PHOENIX (AP) ' An Arizona jury has found a man guilty of murder in the so-called Baseline Killer case that terrorized the Phoenix area during the summer of 2006.

Mark Goudeau (goo-DOH') had been accused of killing nine people. The Maricopa County Superior Court jury convicted him of murder, reaching the verdict against 47-year-old on Monday after a four-month trial.

Although Goudeau already was serving a 438-year prison sentence in a sexual assault case connected to the Baseline Killer crimes, prosecutors pursued the nine murder charges in a separate trial to get him the death sentence.

The first murder conviction read by the jury involved the case of Georgia Thompson, a stripper who lived in Tempe. He could be convicted in eight other murder cases.
