Kansas says it will immediately comply with court order to fund Planned Parenthood clinics
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) ' Kansas says it will obey a federal judge's order to fund Planned Parenthood clinics immediately while the state pursues an appeal.
U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten on Tuesday ordered the state to continue paying Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri on the same quarterly schedule that existed before a new state law stripped it of all federal funding for non-abortion services.
The Kansas attorney general's office and the state Department of Health and Environment told The Associated Press on Wednesday they will comply with the order while appealing to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
