Lawsuit claims hazing on MS high school ball team
Suit alleges baseball team hazing at Miss. high school; says boy suffered seizure after attack
By The Associated Press

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) ' A lawsuit claims a Mississippi high school baseball team participated in hazing rituals that left one teenager hospitalized.

The suit claims that for at least two years, older players on the Picayune Memorial High baseball team singled out younger, smaller players to punch before games.

The parents of a 15-year-old boy allege in the suit that their son suffered a seizure and was hospitalized last April, allegedly after one such incident on the field. It seeks unspecified damages.

The Picayune School District, baseball coach Cayne Stockstill and three players identified only by initials are named as defendants. The suit was filed on Nov. 22 in Pearl River County Circuit Court, but was moved to U.S. District Court on Dec. 28 at the district's request.

A lawyer representing the school district and coach would not comment.
