Visibility is undeniable: London Olympics unveil purple and poppy-red uniforms for volunteers
LONDON (AP) ' One thing is for sure: You will be able to spot the London Olympic volunteers in a crowd.
Olympic authorities on Tuesday unveiled the uniforms for the volunteers ' also known as Games Makers ' drawing on the influences of the scarlet tunics of the Grenadier Guards combined with a heaping dash of regal purple.
The polyester uniforms, which include epaulettes and metal buttons, were designed by the organizing committee along with the official sportswear provider, Adidas.
Some 70,000 volunteers will be on hand to help out during the Olympics and the Paralympics in London. Each volunteer receives a jacket, polo shirt, trousers ' and an umbrella for London's unpredictable weather.
The Olympics begin July 27 and end Aug. 12.
