First charges filed in case of 4 women slain in Detroit; man accused of arson, moving bodies
By The Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) ' Prosecutors have filed the first charges in the deaths of four Detroit women whose bodies were found in cars in December.

James Brown of Sterling Heights is charged with moving the bodies and arson, but he's not charged with killing the women. The crimes carry a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison.

Maria Miller, a spokeswoman for the prosecutors, declined to offer details. The case remains under investigation.

Brown is expected in court Saturday. It was not known if he had an attorney.

The bodies of Demesha Hunt and Renisha Lander were found in the trunk of a car on Dec. 19. On Christmas, the bodies of Natasha Curtis and Vernithea McCrary were discovered in a burning car. Three had placed online ads for adult dating services.
