Man upset with county dangles with sign and rope ladder from NY's Tappan Zee Bridge
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (AP) ' A former government worker who dangled for hours from New York's Tappan Zee Bridge has been lowered and taken on board a boat.
The man had been hanging from a harness attached to a rope ladder Monday about halfway between the Hudson River and the bridge roadway. He had a sign and apparently was upset with Rockland County officials.
State police lowered him to just above the water at around 2 p.m. He then jumped or fell into the water and was immediately hauled on board a boat.
The Tappan Zee bridge is a major crossing north of New York City that connects suburban Westchester and Rockland counties.
