Manning doesn't plan to play in preseason games
Manning plans to miss final 2 preseason games, will take next 2 weeks to get healthy
By The Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ' Peyton Manning says he doesn't expect to play in the Colts' final two preseason games, but hopes to be ready for the Sept. 11 season opener at Houston.

Manning spoke at halftime of a high school game at the PeyBack Classic, an annual tripleheader sponsored by his charitable foundation.

The decision also could endanger his streak of 227 consecutive starts, which includes the playoffs. It's the second longest streak by a quarterback in NFL history.

Colts owner Jim Irsay used his Twitter account to express his concern about Manning's health, writing that the team might have to prepare for the start of the season without the only four-time MVP in league history.

Manning had surgery to repair a nerve in his neck in May and hasn't practiced since the lockout ended.
