Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte: Yes, We Pee in the Pool

By DMO Affiliate
So the rumors are true. Alphabetically - Carly Geehre, former USA swimming national team member: "Nearly 100% of elite competitive swimmers pee in the pool. Regularly. Some deny it, some proudly emrace it, but everyone does." Ryan Lochte: "I think there's just something about getting into chlorine water that you just automatically go. ... I didn't during the races, but I sure did in warm-up"Michael Phelps: "Chlorine kills it so it's not bad."Apparently, thanks to Carly's detailed blog post on the subject, sometimes they're peeing on themselves outside of the pool on the deck right before the race. Or during a breaststroke pullout. But most, like Ryan, are testing the chlorine during warmups. Is this really such a big deal? No. But just to reiterate, Olympic swimmers are literally racing in their own pee.It brings on a whole new meaning to the words Gold Medal.Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte and Carly Geehr have all admitted to peeing in the pool during Olympic swimming competitions, but apparently, none of the Olympians really care. "Everybody pees in the pool, Phelps said."Source: OMN on Facebook: OMN on Twitter: Subscribe to OMN!pee, olympics, olymics 2012, ryan lochte, michael phelps, phelps, lochte, carly geehre, geehre, carly, swimming, racing, urine, peeing olympics, swimmers peeing, trending, news, video news, news online, one minute news, omn, jennifer martin
