Military investigating Navy medic in bomb threat
Military charges expected against Navy medic in school bomb threat; corpsman held at brig
By The Associated Press

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) ' The Marine Corps is taking over the investigation of a Navy medic who was arrested after Camp Pendleton officials found a threatening note in his barracks that prompted a high school evacuation.

1st Lt. Eric Flanagan says corpsman Daniel Morgan is being held at the brig Thursday while military officials determine what charges to pursue against him.

The 22-year-old is accused of writing a note Wednesday saying he had planted explosives at nearby San Clemente High School before going AWOL.

The note forced students to evacuate on the first day of school as bomb squads searched through buildings and classrooms. Morgan turned himself in hours later.

No explosives were found.

Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino says his department will not press charges because the threat originated on the base.
