Colorado's most destructive wildfire fully contained after killing 2, destroying 350 houses
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) ¯¯¯ The most destructive wildfire in Colorado history has been fully contained less than three weeks after it erupted.
Incident commanders say the 29-square-mile Waldo Canyon Fire was completely encircled by containment lines on Tuesday.
Officials say residents may still see smoke over the next few days as areas inside the perimeter of the fire continue to burn.
The fire killed two people and destroyed nearly 350 houses when it burned into northwest Colorado Springs. The cause is still under investigation.
As many as 32,000 people were evacuated, and President Barack Obama visited the area on June 29.
