Much-covered media ethics flap fails to register
Media blogger's ugly exit divides journalists but doesn't make a dent outside the industry
By The Associated Press

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) ' A popular media blogger's ugly exit from his high-profile job has divided the journalism industry. It's the rest of the world that hasn't seemed to notice.

Jim Romenesko's blog for the Poynter Institute has been a staple for journalists as a source for industry gossip for more than a decade. He stepped down earlier this month amid a controversy over whether he used proper attribution.

Journalists are still chattering about whether Romenesko got a raw deal. But all the coverage over his departure hasn't seemed to matter to those outside the business.

Some experts say the episode has lessons that could apply to all bloggers.

But even Romenesko says people beyond the industry probably don't care.
