Muifa forecast to make landfall between NE China, North Korea as a tropical storm
BEIJING (AP) ' China's weather agency says Muifa will make landfall later Monday somewhere between northeastern China and western North Korea.
The Central Meteorological Station says the former typhoon has been downgraded to a tropical storm. On Sunday, it moved along China's eastern coast and downed power lines and billboards in Shanghai and brought heavy rain to coastal Shandong province.
The weather agency says Muifa is creating sea gusts of up to 63 miles per hour (102 kilometers per hour) and traveling at a speed of 15-18 miles per hour (25-30 kilometers per hour).
It says Muifa will weaken after making landfall somewhere between Zhuanghe in Liaoning province and western North Korea on Monday evening. It says it will bring heavy rain to Liaoning.
