Shaggy, oversized 'Where the Wild Things Are'-style coats dominate at Mulberry
LONDON (AP) ' Huge, hairy fur coats and gilets are dominating the catwalk at British designer Mulberry as the brand kicks off the third day of London Fashion Week.
Creative director Emma Hill said Sunday that the collection of oversized outerwear in rabbit fur and sheepskin was inspired by Maurice Sendak's children's' book "Where the Wild Things Are."
Sheer, tie-dyed silk dresses in ink blue and dark red, as well as Aztec-inspired zig-zag prints, provided textural and color contrast to a collection mostly made of a palette of blacks and earthy shades of brown.
The luxury leather goods brand also launched a new bag named after hit singing sensation Lana Del Ray, who attended Sunday's show at London's Claridges Hotel.
