Muslim woman removed from Southwest plane sues
Muslim woman who was kicked off Southwest plane from San Diego to San Jose is suing airline
By The Associated Press

SAN DIEGO (AP) ' A Muslim-American woman is suing Southwest Airlines Co. for discrimination because federal officials removed her from a plane.

Irum Abbasi and her attorneys announced the lawsuit Thursday in San Diego.

Abbasi is a Pakistani immigrant who's lived in the U.S. for a decade. She was on a flight from San Diego to San Jose in March when she says a flight attendant became concerned.

Abbasi was wearing a head scarf and told someone on her cellphone, "I have to go," because the plane was about to depart. But Abbasi says the attendant thought she said, "It's a go."

The mother of three was taken off the plane and checked by TSA agents. She got on the next flight.

The Dallas-based airline later apologized. Abbasi says she wants the crew disciplined.
