NYC mayor: NJ surveillance complaints 'ridiculous'
NYC mayor: 'Ridiculous' for NJ officials to say NYPD surveillance should stop at border
By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) ' New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says New Jersey officials' complaints about NYPD surveillance of Muslim groups are "ridiculous."

He was responding to criticism from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Newark Mayor Cory Booker over the NYPD's tactics.

Bloomberg said Friday on his weekly appearance on WOR Radio that it's "a bit ridiculous" to say "the NYPD should stop at the border."

He says New York police officers have been doing in New Jersey what any private citizen can do: going to open meetings and looking at websites.

Bloomberg says the NYPD has been keeping authorities in New Jersey informed.
