NYPD clears park of Occupy Wall St. protesters
Hundreds of NY police officers clear Occupy Wall St. protesters from Zuccotti Park; 70 arrests
By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) ' Hundreds of police officers in New York City have cleared Zuccotti Park of Occupy Wall Street protesters so it can be cleaned, and at least 70 people have been arrested.

The two-month-old encampment sparked a worldwide movement protesting corporate greed. Protesters have been told they can return once the park is clean, but can't bring tents, sleeping bags or tarps.

Hundreds of former Zuccotti Park residents and their supporters are marching along Lower Manhattan before dawn Tuesday and are threatening to block Broadway during the morning rush hour.

Others are gathering near Foley Square, just blocks from Zuccotti Park, where they can't get arrested.

Many of the protesters are facing hundreds of police officers in riot gear.
