CBS is big ratings winner last week, soundly beating runner-up NBC in viewers, Nielsen says
NEW YORK (AP) ' CBS buried its rivals in the ratings last week, logging 17 of the 25 most-watched shows. Ratings figures released Tuesday by the Nielsen Co. say CBS averaged one-third more viewers last week than runner-up NBC.
NBC could claim the week's top-rated show: Sunday night football. According to Nielsen, broadcast of the NFL playoff game between Detroit and New Orleans drew nearly 32 million viewers. But CBS dominated in the rankings after that, scoring big with such hits as "NCIS," ''60 Minutes" and "Two and a Half Men." Overall for the week, CBS averaged nearly 13 million viewers, far ahead of NBC, which had 8.25 million.
NBC's "Nightly News" was on top among the evening newscasts with an average of nearly 9 million viewers.
