Norwegian driver's wrong turn into Ariz. town's street festival leads to prison for assault
WINSLOW, Ariz. (AP) ' A Norwegian man who took a wrong turn onto a one-way street in an Arizona town and plowed into a street festival has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.
John Kristoffer Larsgard was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and six other charges in Navajo County last month.
The 33-year-old man's lawyer says the case is a miscarriage of justice involving a confused driver. Prosecutors say Larsgard turned his car into a weapon, hitting one woman and nearly running over several others.
The Arizona Republic reports (http://bit.ly/K5tdTG ) that Larsgard and his mother were driving across the U.S. when they had car trouble in Winslow, Ariz. The case has drawn interest in Scandinavia.
