Obama argues for prosperity for all, says GOP rivals would return to failed trickle-down ideas
ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) ' President Barack Obama is accusing his Republican rivals of trying to revive trickle-down economics instead of spending money on priorities to help the middle class. Obama said those Republicans "don't seem to remember how America was built."
In politically pivotal Ohio, Obama spoke up for job training programs at Lorain County Community College.
Pounding home the theme of his re-election race against Mitt Romney, Obama said he wants to ensure tax fairness for all while Republicans want to "shower the wealthiest Americans" with tax cuts they don't need.
Obama said the public doesn't like to see tax dollars wasted, but does want to see money spent in areas that help the country thrive. He said people see a common purpose in "the larger project we call America."
