Obama says 'tensions' between US, Russia 'can be worked out'
By The Associated Press

LOS CABOS, Mexico (AP) ' President Barack Obama says he's confident that "tensions" between the United States and Russia can be worked out.

Following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Obama says the two leaders agreed on the need to build on areas where they have had success "even though there are areas of disagreement."

Obama has been seeking Russia's help in resolving the urgent crisis in Syria. Obama says the U.S. and Russia agree that a political process needs to be created in Syria in order to "prevent civil war."

Putin says he and Obama found "many commonalities" on Syria.
