Official: DNA match links unsolved 2004 NYC murder to chain used in Occupy subway protest
NEW YORK (AP) ¯¯¯ A law enforcement official says a DNA match has linked crime scene evidence from a New York City drama student's unsolved 2004 death to a chain collected after a protest affiliated with Occupy Wall Street this spring.
The official told The Associated Press on Tuesday a database recently matched DNA on the chain to material on a compact disc player found near Sarah Fox's body. But the DNA hasn't been matched to anyone.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the investigation.
Fox disappeared after going running. Her body was found in a park six days later.
The chain was used to hold open an emergency exit gate during a March 28 protest at a Brooklyn subway station.
NBC 4 New York first reported the DNA match.
