Okla. agency sends out email listing off-color criteria in search for tornado award winner
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) ' An Oklahoma state work is facing disciplinary action after an official email that contained an off-color term for breasts was sent to hundreds of people.
The email was sent as the Oklahoma Insurance Department searched for people to honor at a tornado preparedness meeting.
Department spokesman Glenn Craven said an email with "offensive and unacceptable language" was traced to a staff member staff who was deeply apologetic. The agency did not identify the staffer.
Craven said neither Insurance Commissioner John Doak nor any supervisor was aware of the email before it was sent.
The email stated the Insurance Commissioner's Award would go to a "girl" with large breasts. A subsequent email said the award would be given to someone who made outstanding contributions to the tornado preparedness industry.
