Oscarcast wins as week's most-watched show, helping crown ABC the prime-time winner overall
NEW YORK (AP) ' The Academy Awards show bills itself as Hollywood's biggest night. It was also TV's biggest show last week, helping crown ABC as the week's prime-time champ.
The Nielsen Co. says the Oscarcast was easily top-ranked, with an audience of nearly 40 million viewers.
Overall for the week, ABC averaged nearly 11 million viewers, edging out CBS with 10 million viewers. Far behind were Fox, NBC and the CW.
NBC's "Nightly News," as usual, topped the evening newscasts, followed by ABC and CBS.
