Tropical Storm Dora forms in Pacific off Mexico as Atlantic's Bret moves from Bahamas
MIAMI (AP) ' Tropical Storm Dora is continuing to strengthen in the Pacific Ocean off southern Mexico.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said the storm was centered Monday night about 360 miles (579 kilometers) south-southeast of Salina Cruz, Mexico, and moving west at 14 mph (23 kph) with top sustained winds of 60 mph (96 kph).
It is expected to become a hurricane by Tuesday. No watches or warnings are in effect yet.
In the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Bret was moving slowly north-northeast from the Bahamas and forecast to stay away from the U.S. East Coast.
Bret's maximum sustained winds were 60 mph (96 kph). Its center was about 160 miles (257 kilometers) north of Great Abaco Island.
