Officials: Pakistan military, civilian officials to meet on rules for US, NATO
ISLAMABAD (AP) ' A Pakistani security official say the country's top military and civilian leaders are set to meet Saturday in a closed-door session to discuss proposed new rules for coordinating with the United States and NATO.
The meeting could also provide an opportunity for reconciliation between civilian and military officials after a week of escalating tensions and rumors of a coup on the horizon. The official said both the army chief and the prime minister are expected to attend.
Errant U.S airstrikes in November killed two dozen Pakistan troops and pushed strained ties between the two nations close to collapse.
A Defense Ministry official confirmed the meeting. Both spoke anonymously because of the sensitivity of the issue.
