Pal: NJ man in spy case spoke of 'viewing party'
Witness: Ex-Rutgers student charged with webcam spying on roommate talked of 'viewing party'
By The Associated Press

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) ' A friend says a former Rutgers student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate's intimate encounter with another man told her there was going to be a "viewing party" to watch the liaison.

Michelle Huang told jurors Monday that Dharun Ravi (dah-ROON' RAH'-vee) told her about it on Sept. 21, 2010, the same day he's accused of attempting to spy on his roommate.

It's the first mention of a viewing party in the trial. Testimony is in its seventh day.

The roommate, Tyler Clementi, killed himself by jumping off the George Washington Bridge a day after the intimate encounter.

Ravi faces 15 counts, including invasion of privacy and bias intimidation, a hate crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He isn't charged in Clementi's death.
