Police say Boston fire may be suicide attempt
Police say Boston fire may have been suicide attempt; firefighters catch boy in 3-story drop
By The Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) ' Police say a preliminary investigation indicates an explosion and fire at a Boston apartment building may have been the result of a failed suicide attempt.

Firefighters rescued at least 15 people early Monday, including a 6-year-old boy who was dropped from a third-floor window of a large apartment building in the city's Roxbury section.

Police say they arrested a man who showed up at a hospital with burns and claimed he started the fire. They didn't identify him, but a spokeswoman for Boston police says he may have been trying to kill himself. Police stressed that the investigation is ongoing.

The man was arrested, but hasn't been charged.

Ten people were taken to the hospital, most with smoke inhalation. Two firefighters and a police officer were treated for minor injuries.
