Police: Gunmen kill 18 passengers traveling on a bus in northwestern Pakistan

MANSEHRA, Pakistan (AP) ' Police say gunmen have killed 18 passengers traveling on a bus in northwestern Pakistan.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in the remote mountainous village of Harban Nala in Kohistan district.

Police officer Mohammad Azhar says the bus was traveling to Gilgit when the gunmen attacked it and shot the passengers.



It was unclear what the motive for the attack was, but in the past, Sunni extremists have killed Shia Muslims in that part of Pakistan.

Kohistan is some 211 miles (340 kilometers) northwest of the capital, Islamabad.
