Ky. police: Multiple injuries on school bus in collision with tractor-trailer; rig flees scene
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) ' Authorities say a school bus overturned on rainswept Interstate 65 in south-central Kentucky after a collision with a tractor-trailer that fled, sending 16 children and three adults to the hospital.
Police reported injuries in Thursday's accident, but it wasn't immediately clear how many were hurt or how seriously.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Jonathan Biven said the bus was carrying fourth-grade students, two teachers and their driver from a Louisville private school on a field trip to Mammoth Cave National Park.
Biven says police are searching for a white tractor-trailer, adding two children and one adult aboard the bus were sent on to hospitals in Louisville. He said one doctor reported some on the bus had broken bones, but medical authorities had no immediate details of the injuries.
