Decision looms: Whether ex-Rutgers student charged with webcam spying on roommate will testify
By The Associated Press

NEW BRUNWSICK, N.J. (AP) ' One major decision looms for the former Rutgers University student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate's intimate encounter with another man: whether to testify in his own trial.

Defense lawyers for Dharun Ravi (dah-ROON' RAH'-vee) began calling witnesses on Friday, indicating that the trial is nearly finished.

Ravi is charged with 15 criminal counts, including invasion of privacy and bias intimidation. His roommate, Tyler Clementi, committed suicide in September 2010 ' just days after the alleged spying.

Jurors heard Ravi's voice for nearly an hour last week when prosecutors played a video of his statement to police early in the investigation.

Ravi and his lawyers will need to decide if there's anything more to gain by having him testify.
