Presidential campaigns prepare for ad war
With Web ads, presidential campaigns lay groundwork for televised war of words
By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) ' Get ready for attack ads.

The presidential candidates are preparing for a TV ad blitz less than three months before the first balloting in the GOP nominating contest. They've been previewing lines of attack for months in videos that populate the Web.

Mitt Romney's campaign says Rick Perry's plan for Social Security could cost Florida its entire education and prison system. For his part, the Texas governor says Romney's push for health care change in Massachusetts laid the foundation for what conservatives call Obamacare.

Herman Cain, surging in the polls, compares the federal tax code to slavery.

Romney and Perry are likely to have the financial resources to compete aggressively on the air. Perry has the most to gain with ads, having slipped in the polls.
