Pretrial hearing gets under way in child sex-abuse case against ex-PSU coach Sandusky
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) ' A pretrial hearing is under way for former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky in his child sex-abuse case.
Judge John Cleland said at the start of Thursday's hearing that he would not immediately rule on a number of issues, including a request by Sandusky to have the charges against him dropped.
Lawyers are expected to cover a range of issues, from whether to allow prosecutors to use items from a search of Sandusky's home to whether Sandusky should be given more information about the details of the allegations. Sandusky's lawyer, Joe Amendola, says he doesn't expect the judge to rule immediately on the major issues.
The 68-year-old Sandusky faces 52 counts for alleged sexual abuse of 10 boys over 15 years. He's on home arrest awaiting trial in early June, and denies the charges.
