Britain's Prince Harry in Washington to accept award for work with wounded veterans
WASHINGTON (AP) ' Britain's Prince Harry met with wounded service members and helped plant a tree at the British Ambassador's residence in Washington during his first visit to the U.S. capital.
Harry is visiting Washington to accept an award for his charitable activities on behalf of wounded service members. He will receive the award at a dinner Monday night hosted by the Atlantic Council at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
Harry, who is training as a military helicopter pilot, has worked with a number of charities. They include Walking with the Wounded, a British charity that retrains and re-educates veterans, as well as Help for Heroes, which helps wounded servicemen and women.
The Atlantic Council is a Washington-based think tank. Its annual award ceremony is also honoring U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter.
