Rare December tornado hits SW Louisiana hospital; no injuries reported from weak storm
DEQUINCY, La. (AP) ' A rare December tornado struck the southwest Louisiana city of DeQuincy, causing some property damage and forcing the city's hospital to evacuate patients. No one was injured.
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles says the tornado touched down at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday and tore off part of the roof at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital.
The American Press (http://bit.ly/tDX2ws ) reports the hospital transferred eight patients to hospitals in the nearby cities of Lake Charles and Kinder.
Weather service forecaster Todd Mogged says the tornado was likely on the ground for less than a minute.
