Product recall: ceiling fans

The following recall has been announced:



DETAILS: Ceiling fans imported by Westinghouse Lighting Corp., of Philadelphia, Pa.; sold at retail stores, product suppliers and on from January 2011 through January 2012. The ceiling fans have 24, 30 or 42-inch diameter blades and "Westinghouse" printed on its ceiling canopy. The ceiling fans have a gun metal, chrome or espresso finish with an opal frosted light kit in the center. They have a total of three or six fan blades. They were manufactured in China.

WHY: The two 60-watt light bulbs included with the ceiling fans exceed the fan's maximum wattage, which can cause them to overheat or fail, and pose fire and shock hazards to consumers.

INCIDENTS: None reported.
