Product recall: swing sets, camera battery packs

The following recalls have been announced:



DETAILS: Flexible Flyer Swing Sets manufactured by The Troxel Company of Moscow, Tenn.; sold at Walmart, Toys R Us, Academy, other specialty stores and online nationwide from December 2011 through May 2012. The Flexible Flyer swing sets come in 11 different models, each with a seesaw attachment along with swings, bars or a slide. The model number can be found on a sticker located underneath the center of the top bar of each swing set unit. The swing sets were manufactured in the United States.

WHY: The see saw seats can break away from the bolt fasteners during use, posing a fall hazard.

INCIDENTS: The firm received 1,232 reports of see saw seats breaking, resulting in 13 injuries to young children that included bumps, bruises and lacerations.

HOW MANY: About 100,500 in the U.S. and 4,900 in Canada.

DETAILS: Nikon digital SLR camera battery packs distributed by Nikon Inc. of Melville, N.Y.; sold at camera, office supply and mass merchandise stores, in catalogs and on various websites nationwide from February through March 2012 in Canada and from March through April 2012 in the United States. The Nikon EN-EL 15 rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs were sold with the Nikon digital SLR D800 and D7000 model cameras. The battery pack's model numbers are printed on the back. The battery packs were manufactured in Japan and China.

WHY: The battery packs can short circuit, causing them to overheat and melt, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

INCIDENTS: Nikon has received seven reports of incidents outside of the U.S. and Canada of the battery packs overheating. No incidents have been reported in the U.S. or Canada. No injuries reported.

HOW MANY: About 5,100 in the United States, 1,100 in Canada and an additional 195,000 worldwide.
