Mother-in-law: Kidnap-slaying suspect thought 2 abducted Tenn. girls were his daughters
GUNTOWN, Miss. (AP) ' The mother-in-law of the Mississippi man on the run from a double-slaying says he thought he might be the father of the two girls he's now accused of kidnapping.
In a Wednesday interview, Adam Mayes' mother-in-law, Josie Tate, said he thought the missing sisters might actually have been his daughters and that it caused problems in his marriage to her daughter, Teresa Mayes, who's jailed in the case.
Authorities say they think the missing girls, 12-year-old Alexandria Bain and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain, are still with Mayes, nearly two weeks after he fled with them.
Authorities have put Mayes on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List and urged him to surrender. The reward for information leading to Mayes' arrest is now at more than $100,000.
