Less than two months after her first official day as Gulfport’s head girls basketball coach Brooke Glass already wrapped up her first offseason with her new team at today’s summer shootout. Time’s up on Gulfport’s first offseason under Brooke Glass, who was quick to make new friends with her former district foes from her time as head coach at Hancock. "The athleticism is unbelievable. I'm glad to be on this side of the team, for sure. It's been so much fun getting to know the girls. I knew them as players as an opposing team, but getting to know them personally and personality wise, they're an amazing group of girls. We have a lot of fun together." Today, the Lady Admirals had two games worth of fun versus Hattiesburg and 6A rival Harrison Central. They were joined by Pass Christian and West Lauderdale at the Gulfport Summer Shootout. "Well, this is our last actual get together, practice, play of the season so we've been saying all summer make a statement. And that's our goal this season is to make a statement on the Coast. And so I told our girls this is our last shot for this summer, let's make a statement for this summer and go out with a bang,” said Glass. The Lady Admirals almost did just that, falling one point short to the Red Rebelettes in their second game of the day. Combine that with a win over Hattiesburg in the first and Gulfport is already looking like a force to be reckoned with in year one of the Coach Glass era. "Every time I walk in the gym and I just watch them I'm just in awe, like this is where I'm supposed to be, these kids are amazing and we have a lot of excitement that we're going to bring this year on the Coast. (Stay tuned?) Stay tuned,” said Glass. The Lady Admirals will resume in school practice when classes start back in August and then after school sessions in October.   [READ MORE]
