Romney ramps up attacks on Obama's green energy record, taking campaign to Solyndra offices
FREMONT, Calif. (AP) ' Mitt Romney is holding a news conference outside the shuttered offices of Solyndra, the green energy company that went bankrupt after receiving government loans.
The Republican presidential candidate was making an unannounced visit to solar panel company's Fremont, Calif., plant on Thursday, with his campaign going to great lengths to conceal the plans.
Solyndra received $535 million in loan guarantees from President Barack Obama's Energy Department in 2009 only to go bankrupt last August, sparking an investigation.
At the White House, Obama was appearing with former President George W. Bush for the unveiling of Bush's official portrait.
