Romney unveils detailed plan to help economy, create jobs ahead of Obama's speech to Congress
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) ' Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is calling for lowering the corporate tax rate and eliminating capital gains taxes for middle-class Americans to lift the struggling economy and create jobs.
Romney has detailed 59 specific proposals aimed at fixing the nation's stubbornly high unemployment rate, which is at 9.1 percent. He gave a broad outline of his proposals in a Tuesday morning opinion piece in USA Today and was to speak about the plan later in the day at McCandless International Trucks in Las Vegas.
Romney's 160-page plan would lower the tax rate for corporations and eliminate taxes on interest, capital gains and dividends for middle-class Americans. He would create new free trade zones and require government agencies to make sure that new regulations don't cost money.
