Seattle man pleads not guilty to Illinois girl's 1957 kidnapping, killing
By The Associated Press

SYCAMORE, Ill. (AP) ' A 71-year-old Seattle man has pleaded not guilty in the 1957 kidnapping and killing of an Illinois girl.

Jack McCullough entered the plea at a Thursday arraignment, appearing via video feed from the DeKalb County Jail. A judge also granted the prosecution's request to test McCullough's DNA against evidence recovered from the girl's body after it was recently exhumed.

A grand jury this summer indicted McCullough on felony murder, kidnapping and abduction charges in the death of 7-year-old Maria Ridulph (RIHD'-uhlf) of Sycamore.

McCullough was arrested in Seattle and brought to Illinois in July to face charges in one of the oldest cold-case murders to be reopened in the nation. He's being held on $3 million bail.

McCullough has denied wrongdoing, insisting in interviews that he has a solid alibi.
